ARISS CONTACT PLANNED FOR ESA ASTRONAUT
PAOLO NESPOLI, IZ0JPA AND SCHOOL IN

The educational institution "Saint
Roch" in Aosta has been involved since three years in the bilingual
project (French and Italian) "Saint-Roch Etoiles" (SRE). This is an
educational project aimed at teachers, pupils and their families in
SRE is dedicated to the study of
astronomy and space sciences, which now comprises about 600 students from
different school levels (Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary grade 1) attending
the School "Saint-Roch" in Aosta, Italy.
The project started in 2009, the
International Year of Astronomy, with the collaboration of the Astronomical
Observatory of the Autonomous Region Valle d'Aosta (OAVdA), under the patronage
of the Superintendent of Education Office of the Autonomous Region Valle
d'Aosta.

operated by LU8YY, in
The contact will be broadcast on EchoLink AMSAT (node 101 377) and JK1ZRW (node 277 208) servers and on IRLP reflector 9010.
The event will also be visible on
streaming video at http://www.livestream.com/AMSAT_Italia
The conversation will be conducted in
Italian. Pupils are 3 to 14 years old and they will ask as many of following
questions as time allows.

ARISS is an international educational
outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian
Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations
from participating countries.
ARISS offers an opportunity for students
to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with
crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and
communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can
energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
